clean brass to flash the dawn
and one day when the oil barons have all dripped dry
and the nights are seen to draw colder
they'll beg for your strength, your gentle power-
bring a song for the evening
clean brass to flash the dawn
across these acres glistening
like dew on a carpet lawn
in these dark towns folk lie sleeping
as the heavy horses thunder by
to wake the dying city
with the living horseman's cry.
a giant "chaos style" weaving in all the earthy colors i could combine. this piece has 72 different fibers in it. it makes me think of the clydesdales dragging lumber through a muddy forest full of growing and decaying flora, what about you?
.
i rarely document my process, but i tried to with this one! pictures 7-13 are the (incomplete) palette of options, a few stages of woven state, and then the back tail ends loose, tucked, and finally the covered back :)
